It is an Inter-denominational ministry with a vision to spread the gospel of Christ and advance His kingdom through an indigenous church planting movement in West Africa.
The name New Harvest Missions International was selected in 1993 as the corporate identity for our growing ministry. It identifies our focus and also represents our vision to develop a generation of church planters and leaders with passion to reach their own people for the Lord Jesus Christ in West Africa. The name also represents a commitment to focus on harvesting the unreached people in different countries; regions, cities and what has been termed " the Northern Tier countries" which is a territory comprised many Islamic nations of West Africa.
In 1900 there were 8 million Christians in Africa, which was 10% of the entire population. In the year 2000, there were more than 350 million Christians, which was 48% of population. The Church has grown most rapidly, but the greatest challenge for the Church in Africa today is leadership. It seems that leadership is especially urgent for the 350 million Christians on the continent. Within the next fifty years, the number of Christians on the continent will be more than 800 million and the Church in Africa will need to prepare leaders to meet the need of Christian believers on the continent. These leaders are crucially needed to be train, equip, and develop a strong pastoral leadership for the proclamation of the good news and the promotion of biblical Christianity on a continent faced with lack of biblical teaching, syncretism, nominalism, Islamization, tribal, ethnic wars, violence, poverty, and persecution. Therefore, today's African church leaders must raise up a generation of leaders and pass on their mantle to them. They must burn their energies on emerging leaders by discipling vast numbers of them for the future of the Church in Africa. We must encourage the evangelization of the huge numbers of unreached people on the continent by sending our own missionaries and pastors to plant new, vibrant, vital, and healthy, reproducing churches with much impact in our communities in which we are called to serve as light and salt.
To equip devout followers of Christ to fulfill the great commission among the unreached in West Africa through training, sending, and assisting church leaders to plant new churches.
Our ultimate result is vibrant, vital, healthy churches reaching churches and unevangelized communities in West Africa.
We value church planting as God's instrument in discipling nations, people, and tribes in order to glorify Him and worship Him forever. Therefore, we insist on:
Our Strategic Mission Partnership is to foster and develop relationships with individuals, churches, and organizations that share a common vision and mutual benefit in order to further the kingdom of God. Through our Strategic Mission Partners we will develop:
